In an attempt to make sure that the survivors and evacuees of hurricane Gustav who have been hospitalized have a place to go... Fort Worth... with it's excellent public and private hospital system... has been made the Western Focal Point for incoming hospital patients being air-lifted from New Orleans.
Right now it appears that New Orleans may once again bear much of the brunt of the hurricane winds... and the crushing tidal surge that accompanies hurricanes of such magnitude.
Right now the plans are for hospital-bound patients to be airlifted by the National Guard (I'm glad there are still some here). They will be flown here using the giant C-130 cargo planes into DFW International Airport... and then taken by ambulance to the many area hospitals awaiting their arrival.
Fort Worth is most fortunate to have such a great hospital system... and our great city willingly and gladly awaits the arrival of those who otherwise would be trapped by Gustav's onslaught.
New Orleans... Fort Worth is Here For You !
Great write up Karen Anne for evacuees from this possible next hurricane hit on New Orleans for Ft. Worth to take care of them.

Hi Karen Anne,
It is great that Fr. Worth is there for the people of New Orleans, I hope and pray that it won't be needed.
All the best
Karen Anne,
The people of Ft. Worth will be blessed for helping the people of New Orleans. We are keeping New Orleans in our thoughts and prayers.
Hi Karen, That is wonderful that Fort Worth has the facilities to do this. Hopefully it will hit some relatively isolated spot and spare New Orleans.
Gary: According to the reports on the news... Gustav sounds like it is going to be a killer storm. Keep them in your prayers.
Tom: It is over Cuba right now... and is really causing a lot of death and destruction. At least some folks can drive away from New Orleans. Not so easy when you live on an island.
Kevin: This should be the American Way. Those who are able to help should be there for those who need it. We are trying to do our part... and more. Thanks for your comment.
Adele: As I said above... this is what America should be all about... those who are able to help... pitch in and take care of those who need the help. We truly need to be our brothers' and sisters' keepers. By the way... how are you doing in that very quiet and empty house of yours ? Is it driving you crazy yet ?
Sondra: I hope that will happen, Sondra... but the news reports show Gustav to be a hurrican with an extremely wide base. And... with those winds and such a wide base...the tidal surge that does so much damage will be very very bad.
Karen Anne, We're praying for the people of Louisana as well as TX! We see so many hurricanes and this one being a BIG ONE. I can tell you in Tampa, FL we are already seeing the wind and lots of rain. Batten down...stay dry...and STAY SAFE! I'm glad to see everyone taking this more serious than with Katrina 3 years ago!
Karen Anne I hope that you and yours are safe. We have family in N.O. and they have to leave...
hope you do not mind this link:

your friend in Charlottesville!
Susie: I am in Fort Worth... nowhere near the gulf coast. We might get some rain... depending on what track Gustav takes after it hits land. Thank you so much for your concern.
As far as taking Gustav seriously this time... just about everyone took Katrina seriously last time... except Bush and McCain... who were both off cutting McCain's birthday cake in Arizona somewhere. The response last time was pitiful. This time... people seem to be serious about taking care of each other... which is a true blessing, to be sure.
Charles: It is so great for you to be able to bring your brother and his family to Charlottesville to stay with you during this chaotic time. Who knows... maybe they will stay ? And, the link is fine... it fits in with this post very nicely... but thanks so much for asking.
I am in Fort Worth... Mollie and me... and we are nowhere near the gulf coast. If I were to guess... I would say it is about a five hour drive... mostly all open road. So... unless Gustav spawns some tornadoes way up here... we will be ok.
