Fort Worth Hits the Big Time... The Apple Store Arrives !

There are many things about Fort Worth, Texas that make it a great place to live and to work.  Low unemployment, great jobs market, one of the best "hospital districts" in the state, and a vibrant housing market with plenty of affordable homes... all add to Fort Worth's liveability !

The recently-discovered Barnett Shale natural gas field is proving to be one of the largest gas fields in the entire country... and as such, is providing a great source of both jobs and income to the city of Fort Worth and its surrounding suburbs.

But... up until now... something's been missing.  Even among the great mix of jobs, wonderful hospitable people, a great housing market, one of the country's finest cultural centers with its prominent museums... something has been missing.  But... that has all changed now.

Fort Worth Now Has It's Own Apple Store !

The store actually opened one week ago today... on Saturday, August 23, 2008.  I drove over to the store last weekend to take pictures... but with the traffic jam, and the hundreds and hundreds of people just surrounding the store... I could not get close enough to even take a picture.

Out in front of the store there were either two employees, or two fire marshalls... who would not allow anyone to enter the store... until someone else left the store.  The lines came out the front door, and down the sidewalk to the right... passing by every single store front in the block... and then wrapped itself around the end store... and disappeared into the back.

The Apple Store is located on South University Drive... just south of I-30... which passes horizontally through the middle of Fort Worth.  Also... just a little jog further south on South University... is TCU... that fabulous university that Fort Worthians have enjoyed for many, many years.

The Great City of Fort Worth welcomes the Apple Store.  We're So Glad You're Here !

Apple Stores are cool Karen Anne. Didn't know about this one. Next time I'm over near University Drive I'll have to check it out. Thanks.

Gary:  There is also one in Southlake in the Southlake Town Center... but that center is always so incredibly congested.  The competition for a parking spot is fierce.  The Fort Worth one is actually probably easier to get to for many folks.

I'm a lifelong Mac User - never owned anything but... and you will come to appreciate having everything you need at your fingertips. It's also just a fun place to hang out.

Miss Jennifer:  Come visit the Fort Worth one, and I'll get pictures.  Once Apple sees you and your pictures... I'm sure they'd pay millions for more of them... :)

I'm going to have to look at an Apple computer and see what all the fuss is about.  We don't have an Apple store here yet, though.

Karen, this is the first time that I've heard of an Apple store.  As I was wondering what an Apple store might carry that would generate such a turn out - I found myself staring at the picture.  I finally figured it out....Apple computers or Ipod type stuff maybe?

Karen Anne, We had an Apple store  open at The Woodlands mall and it is always busy.  I'm getting ready to go visit my daughter in New York City and their apple store on 5th Avenue is completely under ground.  They are always on the cutting edge of everything.  My daughter loves her mac!!

Sondra:  Yes... primarily Apple computers... but also everything else possible in the Apple/MAC stable.  Everything is on display... and you can actually talk to salespeople... "geniuses" they call them... and have them explain everything.

They will even allow you to make an appointment... just for you... before the store opens at 10:00am... just to personalize things just for you.  It is quite a place.

Adele:  If you don't have an Apple store yet... that would be a great reason or excuse to come and visit me.  Just jump on I-95 and start driving south.  Sooner or later you'll get on I-40... then I-30... and you'll be here.  I'd love to see you... LOL.  Hope all is well.

Marchel:  How totally wonderful that you're going to visit your daughter.  I am sure you will have an awesome time.

I drove by the Apple store this morning, when I took the picture, and it was quite full, then too.  And... it was about 10:20am... and not in the middle of the day when you'd expect it to be full.  Have your daughter give you the royal tour.  Enjoy !

Hi Karen-Anne - I'm an avid Mac user.  Had a PC for about two years and couldn't take it anymore. Be careful about wandering into that apple store - its addictive. I've had my eye on an iphone.  But my verizon contract has another year on it. The Apple store in the Westchester Mall is always filled.  Very, very popular and with good reason.

Adele - once you get started with a Mac you are on a slippery slope...there is NO going back.  You have been warned.

Hi Karen Anne... I love the Apple Store.  I still use my PC's because switching would just be cost prohibitive, but I love Apple and their products.  They are TRULY an innovative company from products to marketing to policies.  Ya gotta love 'em.

Ruthmarie:  I have always heard that Apple/Mac user are an extremely loyal group.  I have never heard a MAC user say they would even consider going back to using a PC.

Adele:  Ruthmarie has warned you... and I do believe she knows what she is talking about... so please be careful... LOL.

Steve:  Sooner or later you are just going to be sooo itchy about getting a MAC that you just won't be able to control yourself.  So... the sooner you make the jump... the less money overall you will continue to sink into your PC's.  (You say... there were 100's of them there ?  Wow.)

Karen-Anne - I betrayed the world of Macintosh because the platform for using windows was primitive when I first entered real estate...and you need windows for the MLS.  The platform solidified over the next 20 months and 22.5 months later I had a new Mac.  I actually retained an old Mac desktop of the previous generation for my graphics and non-real estate related teaching.  I was was SOOOOO happy to have an updated mac  when I went back to it - I was pretty much doing cartwheels - and I'm not the gymnastic type. I have repented my disloyalty to the Mac Gods and have recovered from my 22.5 months in PC purgatory.  I am once again a Mac citizen in good standing!

Karen Anne, I love out Mac stores!  I hang out there like I used to hang out at Loehmann's when I was skinny.  Oh, and I love my Macs!  It's addictive!

Ruthmarie:  I know that our local MLS has a way of enabling agents with MACs to use the MLS.  From what I know it is relatively easy.  The system we use, I think, is called MarketLinx.  If you wish, I would be glad to get you the local MLS office techie guy here who may be able to shed some light on your system... just a thought.

John:  The folks at the Apple store are even higher up on the customer service chain than the folks at Nordstrom.

Pat:  I remember Loehmann's.  Didn't they used to have the "Back Room" where they had all the expensive stuff marked down to super bargain prices ?  It has been a long time... maybe 20 years or so.  Hmmm... skinny... I remember those times... also about twenty years ago.  Enjoy your addiction.  :)

Karen Anne - I have been to Dallas and briefly into Ft. Worth. I really loved the area. Congrats on getting your first Apple store.

Tanya:  The next time you travel into the area... please surprise yourself and take a trip into downtown Fort Worth.  It is such a family friendly and "family safe" place to visit or live.

Karen Anne - Thanks, I definitely will. I am suppose to get that way before the end of the year. I have 3 girlfriends in the DFW area that I have not seen in years. We are trying to coordinate our schedules to meet up. So I hope everything works out.
