Taking "Head Shot" Photos for my Blogging and Business Use...

My AR friend Marilyn Boudreaux in Lake Charles, Louisiana, just wrote a blog post about having her new "headshot" photo taken.  It is obvious that Marliyn is a very attractive woman.  Both of the photos in her post... A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words-Especially in Real Estate are just gorgeous, and I think either one of them would work very well for Marilyn.

I think that the way we present our "business" selves to the public is extremely important, so I recently had quite a few photos taken of myself to use in my business brochures, on my blogs and websites.  I thought of having them be those "glamour shots" as well... or at least as glamorous as they could be, and still be of me.  Once I saw the results... I think I would rather use one of Marilyn's photos than any of the best of mine.

Knowing I could prolly never get away with doing that... here is the best "head shot" from the ones they took of me.  Are my eyebrows a little too heavy ?  Do I need more eyeliner ?  Whaddya think ?

Hi Karen Anne - I love the one that you use all the time.  You don't want people thinking that you are related to "Cousin It" (just without straight hair).  Thanks for putting a smile on my face!

I am sure it has the ability to be a "talking" head if necessary. You have to love a great shot. I wish I could do them.

Chris, you are very welcome.  If we cannot smile at ourselves, what a miserable way to go through life.  I am so glad I helped you smile.  Have a great weekend.  Just for fun... who is "Cousin It ?"

I've seen this head shot of yours before! I love that you are bringing it out again!!!! I figured I would wait and drop a few pounds before getting my photo retaken... that was over a year ago and I weigh more now! I'm in trouble.

Kathy S:  Just trying to compete with Roger, I guess... although I do appear to have more facial hair than he does.  It happens when a girl gets older, I guess.  Sniffle, sniffle.  By the way... at dinner with Roger, he of course told me how adorable you are.  I told him I already knew that, but thanked him for confirming it.  <smile>

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) over 7 years ago

Kathy D:  I have tried to be a "talking head."  But with that hairdo of mine, I keep getting hair in my mouth.  Hard to speak well when choking on one's own hair.  Drat !  It could always be worse.  I could be losing my hair.  Ewww.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) over 7 years ago

Lindsey, you are never in trouble with me, nor with your loving and admiring clients.  A beautiful and charming Minnesota Gal like you will always have raving fans... and you can count me as one of them.

And yes, I have used this photo before.  It's obviously one of my better "looks."  <impish grin>

Dawn, I am just trying to fight fire with fire, and put my best mug forward.  And I decided not to use my high school photo, because those were all in black and white.  Color photos had not yet been invented.  Eastman Kodak did not exist.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) over 7 years ago

Charles, the real Karen Anne... well, who knows if the "real" any of us... actually exists, or if it does, whether or not we have ever been able to share it with anyone.  Those who have are indeed fortunate.  Have a great weekend.

By the way... if "any" picture could be said to embody the "real me..." it would be this one...

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) over 7 years ago

Wanda:  There is another picture that may actually represent a "real'er" real me.  Sometimes the best pictures are the ones taken from the "inside out"... as opposed to from the outside.

In that case... there is a great possibility that, at least for a period of time during my "earlier years" that this -----> would have been a more realistic picture.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) over 7 years ago

Ohhh, Ms Hannah:  You are very kind.  All sorts of secret views of my personality are being revealed here.  I think I will have to do some more digging to come up with some others, so those above will have to do for now.  And yes, beauty does come from within.

"Cousin It" is from the Addams Family--the TV show.  : )  I though It's hair as straighter, though!

Charles:  Thanks so much.  I never really paid much attention to The Addams Family.  Except to the Mom character... Morticia Frump Addams played by Carolyn Jones.   I liked her.  I might have even asked her out if she lived closer... LOL.

By the way... geeeee... you couldn't find a larger picture, huh ?  <impish grin>  Notice the size of my photos in my comments.  LOL.

Chris... it is just lovely, as are you.  And aren't both of us glad we don't have facial hair like that ?  I guess he just gave up and let it grow.

You're a good man, Charles.  I am so glad you read my posts.  Have a great weekend.  Take care...

Hum...Ok Karen, having come from the hairdresser today, I can tell you that the only time the back of my front looks great is when I'm sitting in her chair.  I get to look in the mirror when they turn me around to see that they back of my head looks like I actually have lots of hair there!   THAT is when I need to have a photo taken.  My children said this week, "Mom, are you seeing Miss Kristen soon?"   Translated, that means, the back of your head looks flat and I see some grey hair.   I got the message.   Cheers and Happy Mother's Day weekend!

Caroline:  Aren't kids wonderful?  But isn't them saying that MUCH better than what they could have said ?  Hey Mom, your hair looks awful.  Time to get a new "do"... Mom.  Ouch !

By the way... I don't think there are many of us who call the stylist who does out hair... our "hairdresser" any more... I that's what I have always called her, and that's what I always will.  I love the term.

And... I am sure you could tell... but when I had this picture taken, I actually WAS sitting in my hairdresser's chair.  She took the picture... so I could use it in my blog posts.  I wrote a post about her... Carol Eller at Shelton's Salon in Fort Worth.  She is fabulous.  Been going to her for eleven years.

I have often thought of just having the back of my head (and by the way the back of your hair looks great to me) or a very far away shot so no one could see the jaw line and chicken neck (thats what I call it.  ACK!).  When I had my photo taken this last time, I asked her to use photo shop as much as she could.  She Did, and I wore a turtleneck -black.  We never think we look as good as other people know we do, we are the hardest on ourselves.

What marvelous hair! I had a head shot like that for years when I worked at Sony. Most of the people (men) I worked with had never met me, and I guess they liked my phone voice because they were always bugging me for a photo. I put up a hair shot - no face. At the time, I had really long, auburn hair, so it didn't help one little bit.  :-)

I also miss your regular posts!  Come back and play!

Hi Karen Anne -- I read a book almost twenty years ago by Naomi Wolf titled The Beauty Myth.  This book was an eye opener for me.  I wish my photo could disappear from most everything real estate marketing related, and I plan to start with my biz cards the next go around.  The photos I am most attracted to, and the same goes for writing are: unpolished, raw, real, authentic, ever-present -- and my own photo I had taken are none of those things LOL. On a lighter note, it is interesting to sometimes run across a colleague's business card who has shown your home, and you have never met this person but have seen a photo online perhaps or just the biz card and when you meet the person, they look about 30-40 years older. LOL

I so enjoy coming back to this "fun post" I wrote, and reading all the wonderful comments.  The comments are getting close to 100... but no Gold Star.  Honestly, I would much rather have all these wonderful folks share their ideas in the comments section... than have a Gold Star.  As far as I am concerned... all of my readers should have Gold Stars !

Hi Karen Anne, I stopped by because I hadn't seen you in over a month and a half and was getting concerned.  Heart medications, except for saving your life stuff, absolutely excel at zapping your strength which sort of sucks.  You know you should get out and excercise, get fresh air, blah blah blah but the pills keep your blood pressure low and muscles weak and there are days it takes too much energy to get out of your own way.  I'm not on these medications, but my friend is and I feel for you that you probably feel that your super hero powers are just out of reach.  Hope you feel better soon.
