It just occurred to me... that my fish must be absolutely starving. I cannot even remember the last time I fed them. I really can't. So, like a good little fish-mother... I have been trying to figure out just what to do. I looked all around for my "Fish Feeding for Rainers" book... but it was nowhere to be found. What to do... what to do.... ? I tried google. It went on for pages and pages... but in the end, it was of no help whatsoever. I was at a loss...
So, I went to PetSmart and bought some fish food. I really didn't know what kind to buy, so, of course, I just picked out the box that looked the prettiest, I brought it home, and sprinkled it all over the top edge of the monitor, and hoped that that would do the trick.
I came back about an hour later, and caught my cat, Mollie... sitting there looking sooo innocent... licking the darn fish food off the top of the monitor. The fish food was all gone, and Mollie had just about fallen asleep... with that silly little "kitty-cat-smile" on her lil furry face.
So... I got out the box of fish food again... sprinkled some more on the top, then grabbed Mollie, took her out of the room, and locked the door on her so she couldn't eat the fish food again. Then, about an hour later, back I came... and the food was still there.
I read the instructions on the box, and then called my sister in Cleveland and asked her what do do. She suggested I try putting the monitor on its back... that way I could put the food directly on top of the water. Well... that didn't work either, but, then again, that was from my sister in Cleveland... and...what does she know ?
So, I went back to PetSmart, but this time I took a picture of the fish to show the salesperson... thinking that "special fish" need "special fish food."
Well... that answered my question. The PetSmart sales girl was great. She told me all about some sort of aquarium software that actually ALLOWS you to feed the fish swimming happily inside your monitor screen. Problem is... I cannot find the software.
I have had people tell me they have actually heard about actual software that can allow me to feed my screen saver fish... but I have not been able to find such a thing. The girl at PetSmart "swore" to me that it actually does exist.
Sooo... is anyone out there in Active Rain Land able to help ? My fishies and I would be oh so grateful for any ideas you may have. All suggestions appreciated.

Karen Anne Stone, Mollie, and all her fishy friends can be reached at (817) 929-3400. Or, you can drop by our website at www.NewHomeHuntersOfTarrantCounty.com and visit us... and perhaps pick out a new home to put your very own aquarium in.
Hi Joey: Oh Darn ! Why didn't they suggest that at the fish food store. Now, honestly kids... nobody out there has heard of such a software program?
There was a fish food specialty store about three miles further away than the PetSmart, Joey, but that would have been such a hard drive to get to. I might start yawning as I drove all that extra distance, and my fish wouldn't want to see their mother bored, would they? <grin>
Karen Anne - I'm not sure if it's because it's late, or I'm simply that gullible (because I am) but I didn't get it until I was nearly done with the blog! Then I started laughing and woke the old man up!
Oh well, he and his dog needed to move over, anyway! LOL!
Hi Joslyn: Not to worry, Joslyn, cuz I am gullible too. I know it is a silly post, but I was in a silly mood. And, I think it is all part of sharing yourself (the writer) with whoever is reading what you write. It is my opinion that it is in sharing ourselves with others that we allow others to get to know us, and in return it let's us get to know them when we give them the same freedom to share with us. (Gee... I wish I had a kayak.) <grin>
Now, honestly, I once DID see... I am sure of it... an aquarium screen saver with an option that allowed the user to click on something that actually did show fish food being dropped on top of the water, and then showed the lil fishies coming up to the surface, and munching on their food. So, this post was also an attempt to find someone who perhaps had that software, or knew where to get it.
I would really just love to have about a 42 inch flat screen TV on the wall, and always have a real interesting kind of aquarium scene running on it... complete with bubbling noise and all. That's why I was looking for the software. Take care... thanks for commenting
Karen Anne - It is my parent's kayak - lol. I wish I had a kayak too!
I'm not sure about what software it is, but I do know exactly what you're talking about. In fact, if you do find it, let me know. It'd be great to "pimp my laptop" with!
Good to know I'm not the only one running around AR late at night! :)
Rub Mollie's ears for me.
You are creative and original, love your humor.
Karen
I actually believed you for a moment, thinking you needed a way to feed fish in a real aquariam, now I feel stupid. But think your Nuts:)
Have a great day! Look out for the sharks.
Joslyn: And... would you like fries with that ? Want it "supersized?" With cheese or without ? Curly fries or regular. Diet Coke or Diet Root Beer ? Choice, choices. But, I still need that "fish feeder" software.
Baked tator tots, spinach, and water.
So really, it's not too bad of a meal... until you throw in the Cajun flavored fried fish!
I just googled feed fish software. I found this blog in the first position on page 2.
Then 2 spaces below that I found a link that got me to here: http://www.filedudes.com/3D_Fish_School_Screensaver-download-35879.html
Hope it helps. Loved the story btw. :)
Sorry, Girl! I can't help you out on this one. I don't have a screensaver.... OR fish! HA! ;)
