The Beans Did It...

I just KNOW it was the beans.  That's the ONLY thing it COULD have been !  Must be some ancient recipe, I guess.

Little did Mr Bush, or his Doggie in those cute commercials that Bush's Beans has on the Tube every once in awhile... little did they know.

But... there I was.  Last Night !

Wide awake as can be.  Heck... it was Four O'Clock in the Morning, for gosh sakes !

And ME.  Just lying there (or is it just LAYING there ?  Gotta look that up.)

Yeah... in bed.  Mollie T was out in the living room... Zonked out on top of her favorite spot on the back of the sofa.  It is SUCH a good thing that Mollie T does not snore.  But, I digress.

Mollie was Zonked.  And there I was.  Asking the Eternal Question.  That one question that I am SURE was being asked by others last night, or this morning... your choice... at Four O'Clock.

How the Heck do I get to sleep ?  I am tired.  I just KNOW I am.  And then... I thought of it.  The Answer.  Mother Nature's Finest.

BEANS !

So... off I waddled to the pantry... hoping my Treasure would be there.  Did I, or Did I Not... eat the last can of Bush's Beans... Country Style, of course ?

Whew !

There were Two Cans Left !  I guess... one for me, and one for Mollie T ?  Nah... Miss Mollie doesn't eat "people food."

So, first... open the can.  Then... into the bowl.  Finally... into the Nuke-ya-lizer.  (Thanks for that, George W !)

Yum... said I... sittin' in the gushy chair... eating my beans... Bush's Country Style.  Gotta Be "Bush's Country Style."

As I sat there... I saw something out of the corner of my eye.  It was Mollie T.  I think the "it's finished" bell on the Nuke-ya-lizer woke her up.  She meowed, gave me the "kittie finger"... and rolled over... back to sleep.

And me.  I put the dish in the sink, waddled back into the bedroom.  Crawled into bed.  And that's the LAST thing I remembered until I woke up at 9:02AM !

The Beans Did it !  Yeah... it musta been the beans.

LOL!  I'm still picturing the "kitty finger!"  Got to give props to those beans.  If you make it to Maine, you can come to one of our famed Bean Hole Suppers...and endless array of home baked beans to choose from.  You'll never have another sleepless night.

What a great post to start my work day off! I will remember the beans the next time I can't sleep! :O)

LOL, I  think they might keep me up, not sure, but you sure gave me a chuckle this morning! But I have to disagree, after all, I am here in Yankee Country, B&M Boston Baked Beans....

Karen Anne- you are so funny!  I cannot imagine eating baked beans at 4am, but I haven't tried it...  Glad it worked for you because nothing is worse than waking up in the "middle" of the night and not being able to sleep.  My nutty husband usually just gets up and starts his day when that happens, but not me!

Kristen:  Oh yeah... I get the kittie finger all the time.  It is Mollie's weapon of choice.  And wow... a Bean hole Supper.  I mean, what more could a girl want ?  And... I am sure that helps everyone stay warm on those cold Winter nights.

Joni:  I am pleased to be with you as you start your work day.  Yes... Bush's Beans may be the answer.  Sleepless nights for one, but there is another use for them that I prolly better hold for another time and another post.  Have a great day.

I eat beans late in the evening when I want to get back at my wife for something...never thought of as a sleep aid...and Kristen has given a whole new definition to my vocabulary on what a bean whole is. LOL

Andrea:  They would keep you UP ?  Wow... being so close to Boston, and having the beans keep you up.  What a dreadful way for a Bostonian Yankee to live.  B&M Beans.  Hmmm... just the name makes it sound like a cure for some "other" personal problems besides sleeping.

And... woman... poor lil me... a Yankee from Blue Country... Cleveland... stuck here in the Red state of Texas.  And having to listen to our Duufus Texas Governor Perry... blather on during this Gubernatorial election season.  Oh, the pain and the shame of it all.

Mollie T and I both proud of our Tankee heritage.  And me ?  Yeah... full of Beans, here, too.

Beans can be guilty of causing a lot of things - never knew they could just knock out a wakeful night!  Is it my imagination - or am I just sensitive to the word - did you change your Blog title??

Jennifer:  Oh... try them some day after you come in from one of your 10K runs I am sure you take every morning.  It's sure warm you right up.

To start my day then ?  Oh no... not this girl.  And from now on... now that I have discovered the secret of Bush's Baked Beans... it's off to bed and back to sleep at 4:00am.  And yeah, I guess nutty husbands do that.  But... aren't they ALL... nutty ?

Mike:  Ahhh... eating beans late in the evening to get back at your wife, huh?  Mike, my friend... that is NO way to... "clear the air."  <silly smile>  But, again... that was not your intent, was it?  What a great weapon.  Cool move, my friend.

Kristen... yeah, she's a good one to subscribe to.  She'll get ya going.  Just don't tell wifey where ya got the idea for the name from.  Cute story, my friend.  How's that volleyball girl of yours doing ?  Hope all are well.

Cara:  I remember the little tune of "beans, beans... the musical fruit.  The more you eat, the more you toot."  But I don't recall a song about them having the power to send me back to dreamland.

And... noper... not your imagination.  One of my more "inventive" friends who regularly comments on my posts made this suggestion... so I thought I would play with the title and see how it felt.  Just to see... just for awhile.

This friend is witty, has a great imagination, and, of course, is quite a "looker."  Maybe you know her ?  Whaddya think ?

The only food that could pull me out of bed would be chocolate cake.

OMG! That is too cute. :) I've never been pulled out of bed for food before, but the baked beans would be yummy on this cold and rainy day.

Ms Karen- I have one can of those in my pantry and I'm not telling where they are!  OOPS! I guess I just did, didn't I!  I've heard of people getting up for ice cream or a cookie; maybe a cold slice of pizza... but BEANS!!!!  You are definitely Ms K!

Mollie T didn't join in?  Hmmmmmm.  I really don't think you should have gotten the kitty finger.  Tundra sometimes gives drivers the puppy paw.

I KNEW IT! We have so much in common. I start to hyper ventilate when I reach for my last can of beans in the pantry. Not that I have EVER eaten them at 4am!

Interesting choice of sleep aids. I, also, know all about that litte kitty finger. Just ask my Ginger. She's the best at it.

Thanks for turning me on to this group.

Like many of the others I have never thought of eating beans to get to sleep and last night was one of those nights I could have used them ( that is if it really works)  I will have to try that because I do Love Bush's beans.

Beans as a sleep aid? Really?????

I would be just too afraid I would make Simba, my pomeranian, catapult out of bed...he sleeps under the cover with me.......and then for sure he would give me the pooch finger.....
