Ten-year-old Female says... "Can't You See I'm In The Shower... "

OK... what's the problem here ?  Can't a girl get any privacy ?

Oh... I feel so "violated."

Here's the story, folks.  My Mom... Karen Anne... and I are moving tomorrow.  As some of you know, our two bedroom apartment was flooded last January 10, 2010.  All that water came in through the ceiling at 3:30AM when the pipes from the fire-sprinkler system froze and burst.

Water everywhere.

So... over the last seven months... (yeah... that long !) we have been living in a ONE bedroom apartment since then.  Actually we have been squeezed into... a one bedroom apartment since then.  Seven months, 21 days.

So yesterday... in preparation for moving, Mom took down the shower curtain in the one bedroom, and moved it ten doors down the hall to our "old apartment"... which I guess is or will be our "new, old apartment."

But... those of you have read Mom's blog posts regularly know that I, Mom's kittie, Mollie T Cat, love to take showers.  Usually I just sit in the kitchen sink and put my head under the dripping water that my lovely and talented, and oh, so gracious Mom runs... just for me.

[Sorry about all that baloney in the last sentence about Mom, but I gotta stay on her good side, and all that nonsense helps.  She just sucks that stuff up.]

Anyway... the movers are coming tomorrow.  All these blasted boxes from the two bedroom... shoe-horned into this one bedroom... will be moved tomorrow.

All of these boxes have been fun for me to climb around it, and hide in, but they sure do make Mom more that a little nutz.  And heck, you and I both know she's on the edge to begin with.  <impish smile>

So... here I am... sitting in the tubbie... underneath the shower... waitin' for Mom to turn on the water so I can take a shower... and... She Won't Do It !

What's a showering kittie like me supposed to do ?

Karen Anne, Loved the humor in your post and am glad you will get back to your spacious home and then, only then will Mollie once again, get the privacy she so much desires!

Hi Karen Anne!
Too cute!  I have to say, this is a first!  I did have a dog that howled for pizza and waffles exclusively...does that count for weird?

Karen I hope you and Mollie T Cat have a easy and peaceful move, and please let that little kittie have her shower!

Posted by Victoria Murphy, Santa Fe, NM (Sotheby's International Realty ) almost 8 years ago

Miss Molly T -  I understand your pain.  I live with five kitties, one dog, a husband and a little boy...I don't know what privacy is anymore!

Karen Anne - Wishing you a smooth move back to the "New, Old Apartment"

Posted by Amy Hahn, Realtor/Broker - Crystal Coast, NC (Pine Knoll Shores Realty) almost 8 years ago

Lottie:  Yeah, sure... you think anything with Mollie T might have a chance to be smooth.  But, then again.  Look at Amy's comment # 6.  I could not even begin to imagine doing this with five cats, a dog, a little boy, and... worst of all... a husband.  Dubble Yikes.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Wanda:  Thanks for the kind words.  If I don't make my world humorous... it could be the end for me.  Yeah... a spacious two bedroom... but, then again... I cannot complain.  There are millions of folks who would trade places with me in a New York second... or, in this case... a Utah second.  And yes, a girlie cat does need her privacy... especially in the shower.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Hannah:  So... nothing about he, huh.  Just give the kittie a shower.  Yeah, that's how it usually goes.  What a cute kittie... Miss Mollie T.  And, oh, you... what was YOUR name again ?  <smile>

Yeah... I get that along.  Mollie T is just too cute.  And, as far as the move... I don't envy me, either.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Paula:  Yes, wayyy too cute.  And Mollie T knows it, too.  Mollie, as are all of our "special" children... unique unto themselves.  And, Lottie in # 1 has now given me a reason to get a video camera, and learn how to use it.  Sheesh... all that just to take videos of Mollie T.  It figures !

And... howling for Pizza and Waffles does NOT count as weird.  It's just your puppy's way of being... ummm... "special."

Yeah... my own mother used to say that about me, as well.  Karen Anne... don't worry about the other kids who say you're weird.  Weird is just another word for "special."  Uh huh.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Good luck with your move and I hope Mollie T will adjust to her new surroundings near a "drip" somewhere

Posted by Marilyn Boudreaux, Lake Charles LA Century 21 Realtor (Marilyn Boudreaux, Century 21 Mike D. Bono & Co.'s) almost 8 years ago

Victoria:  Your kind wishes are appreciated about the move.  As far as the shower... well, you're not all that far away from Fort Worth... you being in Santa Fe.  Mollie T would love to have you help her with her shower.  Maybe YOU... could bring your video camera, as well.  What a great idea for a post.

Mollie will get her next shower... after the move.  Sorry Mollie T.

And... Victoria... so nice to see you.  Have a wonderful week ahead.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Amy:  Oh, sheesh.  Another one who takes Miss Mollie T's side of things.  Oh well, I am used to it.  I just cannot believe you have five cats, one dog, one husband, and a little boy.  You know... at least ONE of them has got to go.  Guess which one I'd "show the door ?"

I bet you cannot even REMEMBER what privacy is like.  That must by why you looked so happy looking out the window of that little gingerbread house.  Very cute.  And, thanks for your kind wishes.  <smile>

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Ugh, I HATE moving. at least it's only 10 doors down. If I were closer, I'd come over to help.

Posted by Cynthia Larsen, Independent Broker Serving Sonoma County, CA (Safe Haven Realty) almost 8 years ago

Karen Anne -- I know which one you would show to the door...Right On!  I think my husband knows the answer too ;-)

Posted by Amy Hahn, Realtor/Broker - Crystal Coast, NC (Pine Knoll Shores Realty) almost 8 years ago

Marilyn:  One more bedroom, one more bathroom, one more sink, and one more tubbie.  Sooo... TWO extra opportunities for her to sneak a drip.  Or a shower.  I would not even be surprised some day to come home and find her floating around... doing the "cat paddle" I guess... in the tub.  Now that... would be a great video.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Amy... you got me laughing so hard with that one... my "you-know-what's" are bouncing.  I know... TMI.  And yes, you are correct, my dear.

By the way... I also posted this on MyOlderSister's Blog .  Take a peek, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Cynthia:  Awww... it wouldn't be all that far for you.  Besides... it's prolly such a nice day for a drive... out there in Sonoma County.  Everyone needs a break, and Mollie T and I would LOVE to have your smiling face here to help us.

Yes... ten doors down, and both are on the second floor, so that makes it so much easier.  Movers will be here at noon... courtesy of the apartment complex.  They have been wonderful in all this... the manager, the assistant, and... when they twisted his arm... even the owner.

My thoughts are very positive!  Just left a comment on "Let There Be Peace on Earth"...You Rock Karen Anne!  Will you be my Older Sister Too, I have one, but there's always room for one more?

Amy, thanks for taking a peek at My Older Sister.  It started out as just a way for me to begin to TRY and learn how to do WordPress.  I even am so basic that I started on the WordPress.com version, which is supposed to be much more simple than the WordPress.org version.

Isn't that video of "Let Ther Be Peace on Earth" just one of the most beautiful things you've ever heard ?  I just don't undersand "hate."  And yes... I would be honored to be your Older Sister as well.  That, of course, makes you my Younger Sister... which probably fits much better than you being my "daughter."  Huggs to Marian.  Somehow, I need to meet you two.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Sharon:  So glad you liked it.  Yes, Miss Mollie T Cat IS both adorable, and clever.  <smile>  But, like daughter, like mother... I hope.

What kind of a mother won't give her kitty a shower just before moving?  I mean come on - how tough is it to give the little girl what she wants.  Really.....

hahahahaha

Hey my cat likes the same thing - drives me bonkers when he starts whining till he gets what he wants just to make him stop!

Good luck on getting settled back in to the new/old place!

By the way... can you imagine Mollie T in a Banana Suit ?  It hurst my head thinking about it.

Yes ma'am... new/old place... here we come.

Molly T would so get along with my Grandkitty Elle.  Elle loves to get in our bathtub to get her drink of water.  When she use to live with her Mommy she would get in the tub after she showered to watch the water go down.  Now we have a seperate shower so have ruined her fun!

Posted by Marchel Peterson, Spring TX Real Estate E-Pro (Results Realty) almost 8 years ago

Wow! I don't think I know any kitties that like to get wet. :) Here's to a smooth move - even if it's ten doors.

Posted by Lindsey Hasford, Bringing you home... (Edina Realty) almost 8 years ago

Molly T writes a pretty good blog.  Good job on teaching her how to use a Mouse... or does that just come natural?

Take care with the move and get someone else to move the heavy stuff!

Is 10 doors away a real move?  Or is it a mini-move?  Oh heck, it's just as stressful, but maybe the packing is easier ... good luck ... a loved the personification blog technique ...

Marchel:  I don't recall seeing a picture of Grandkitty Elle in any of your Spring, Texas posts.  Either I missed her, or perhaps it's time you did a post about her.

Fun... having Elle get into the tub after daughter showered to watch the water go down.

Ya ruined her fun with that separate shower.  What kind of a Gramma ARE you ?  Sheesh.  <smile>

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Lindsey:  Actually, I just got back from rolling one of those little old lady grocery carts down there from here.  Took the slo cooker and stuff.  Movers will be here around noon... I cannot wait.

Unfortunately, with my getting older, I will NOT be able to help them with anything... but just telling them where to put stuff.  But... that's not a bad plan, either.  And... thanks for your "smooth" wishes.

Mark:  Still using that same sign, huh.  <smile>  Yes... Mollie T DOES write a decent blog post.  Actually... cuz Miss Mollie T IS a cat... all she has to do is tell the "mouse" what to do... and it does it.  So, that part does come natural.

Mark... my poor body is wearing out, so there is no way whatsoever I will try to move anything... let alone anything heavy.  I have one of those Container Stored little "oldster" carts I put in the car to wheel my groceries in with... and use that.  That is it.

Thanks for your concern... that was nice.  <smile>

Jack:  The Cliff Notes version.  I was in a two BR.  It got flooded seven months ago.  The apartment complex moved me down the hall ten doors... to a vacant one BR they had, which was half the size I was living in.  Stuffed what they could in, the rest into another one br... they used it as a warehouse... and now it's time to move it all back to the two beddroom unit that has been rebuilt.

Glad you liked the post idea.  Take care...  And oh yes... for me... it surely IS... a "real move."

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Steve:  This is Mollie T.  Yeah, I'm goin' easy on her.  She's a mess... LOL.  But, her "care giver" will be able to help her on parts of Thursday and Friday.  Too bad we could not change the move date till then, but free is free.  So... yes, I will be nice.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Steve:  Yes... the title.  I actually think it was one of my best so far.  I thought it would grab some attention, and it appears it did.  But it IS... still... "truth in advertising."  Just "stretched" a tad.  <smile>

What you do to that poor girl................no privacy for her at all...............oh my.  Hey, good luck with your move.........just got all settled into my new place today.  I'm exhausted.  Don't do what I did, take your time getting settled.  I'm a lunatic!

Ellie:  You should have seen Mollie T... hissing at the mouse.  It's a cordless mouse... of course... but once it heard all that hissing... it just moved around, clicked away, and there it was... a post.  What a sight to see.

And yes... getting into our new/old crib... will be nice.  It's not Ellicott City... but it will work.  We Girls will make it work.  <smile>

Lisa:  How cool !  And, you do look really great in those ruby red slippers.  Love the dress, as well.  Lisa, it will be kinda like getting out of the warehouse and into a place I can actually live in.  What a concept.  There truly IS... no place like home.  Hope things are going well up in Windsor.  <smile>

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Jackie:  You think YOU are confused.  But... Mollie T is ten years old, and she has always been this way.  Each and every cat that has owned me... has had a very distinctive personality.  Guinevere, Ally and now Mollie T.

And... if you have seen some previous posts of Mollie T... there are pictures of her in the kitchen sink... with tap water pouring on to her head.  She likes it !

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Hi Karen-Anne - I'm hoping that you and Mollie T have an "easy" move. Of course, putting "easy" and "move" together in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

Posted by Ruthmarie Hicks (Keller Williams NY Realty - 120 Bloomingdale Road #101, White Plains NY 10605) almost 8 years ago

Roger:  We KNOW you're a lunatic.  It's part of your charm.  And part of the reason you have such a large harem.

I'm glad you're all settled... but you've been working on it for quite a while... what, prolly at least a week ?  So now, it all pays off.  Your nest is ready.  I want to be somewhat settled as well.  Gotta have some time to watch the upcoming US Open tennis in New York.  <smile>

I watch it every year... and enjoy it.  It will be quite nice... watching it in an a place that is NOT as much like a cave as this one bedroom is.  So... you going to hit beautiful downtown Fairport Harbor this coming weekend ?

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Ruthmarie:  This should be a relatively uncomplicated move.  When they moved us out of the flooded apartment last January, it was supposed to be temporary while they took apart, remediated, and then rebuilt the flooded apartment.  Due to them fighting with the insurance company and the plumbing contractor, they did not start for over five months.

But now, since much of my "stuff" has remained in boxes... it should not be so bad.  What will I enjoy most will be living in a place again... that has more than one window.  Funny how one's perspective changes.

Ahhh yes... in the words of the famous Quantum Physicist Max Planck... "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at... change."  How true.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Hi Karen Anne, I hope you are resting now in preparation for the big move in the morning. Good luck with all those boxes and Mollie T, send us a post :O)

Posted by Teral McDowell (Referral Patners LLC) almost 8 years ago

Karen Anne, great talking with you the other evening.  Finally, you'll have your own bedroom and won't have to share with Molly T.  By the way, does Molly only like showers or does she also take baths?  Too funny... never heard of a cat liking water at all.

Posted by Christine Hart Howlett, Keller Williams Greater Cleveland NE (Painesville and Eastern Lake County) almost 8 years ago

Very cute post.  I was able to write something this am on my pets...hope I can figure out right way to do it.  I tried to write last night, but couldn't get on-line.

Sorry to hear about your flood.  That stinks.  I a customer in a similar situation and her whole townhouse (3 floors) is being reconstructed.  I'm taking care of the floors and tile backsplash.

Posted by Debbie Gartner, The Flooring Girl & Blog Stylist -Dynamo Marketers (The Flooring Girl) almost 8 years ago

Teral, yes... at 12:24am last night, I was resting.  I was exhausted.  But I have been up sincce 6:04AM this morning... trying to get ready.  Unfortunately the friend who was helping me last night until about 11:00PM must work today, and the movers will be here at noon.

My friend/care-giver will be off Thursday and Friday, so he will be able to help in the aftermath, and in trying to get settled.

And, oh yes... I will update.  I am trying to write "today's post" before they get here.  I am trying to do that "30 posts in 30 days" thingie that AR has sponsored, and I don't want to miss a day's post because of the move.  What a CIRCUS !  Whew !

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Christine, great talking with you as well.  You are always so "upbeat" when you answer the phone.  Do you know you sound that way ?

Mollie T has not done the bath thing yes, but after we move, I am going to just... test things.  That should be fun to watch.

Now, she actually stands in the sink with the water running over her head when she puts her head under the running faucet.  That, of course, means that her feet are IN the water that is flowing on the bottom of the sink into the drain.  I never heard of a cat like this, either.  But yikes, Mollie T sure likes it.  She is just a "Little Miss Priss."

Obviously, she is also fun to watch.

Posted by Karen Anne Stone, Fort Worth Real Estate (New Home Hunters of Fort Worth and Tarrant County) almost 8 years ago

Debbie:  Thanks so much for your kind words.  As far as writing something about your pets... just keep on trying.  Whatever you produce will be fine, and then the next time you do it, it will be even better.

I think last night for perhaps an hour or two, prolly after I went sleepie pie, Active Rain was "updating" their site, and may have gone offline.

Yeah, the flood was not fun.  Frozen pipes.  The apartment's plumbing contractor did NOT follow the dictated specs when they built the place, and had water IN the attic pipes, rather than only up to the access valve, which would have opened and introduced water into the sprinkler system if and when the fire alarm went off.  Dummies !

And how great of you to help your customer in need.  Floods are not fun.

And also... thank you so much for joining us here and sharing our little Mollie T party.  Yikes... did I just say "T party ?"  OMG.  Someone please help me !  <smile>
