Let Sleeping Cats Lie... If You Know What's Good For You...

To say I like to keep it cold in my apartment... would be something of an understatement.

Just ask Mollie T.  Miss Mollie, you see, prefers it to be more than a tad warmer than I do.  But... since I pay the TXU electric bill... I control the thermometer.

I have, however... come home unannounced at times... and found Miss Mollie T trying to get one of her little kittie-fingers on the thermometer button that raises the temperature.

When I catch her in the act... she just grouses loudly, and then mumbles something about being ticked-off because she doesn't have an index finger.  She get really mad... that I have one, and she doesn't.

So... Mollie T has this fantasy... where she hears the George Harrison singing Here Comes The Sun and she thinks the sun is actually going to come out and shine in "our" apartment.

So... off she goes... to find her very own "place in the sun."  It's right there... right inside the patio door.  A nice, warm square of Mother Nature's sun... just waiting for her.

But then... wouldn't ya know it.  Wouldn't you know that I'd come along.  CatMother... as she calls me.  She sees me... and grouses... "oh... ya got that damn camera again."  "Ya know... all that clickety-clickin' from the camera woke me up..." she said."

Yeah... says me.  I know.  But I got these Active Rain posts I need to get out.  They gotta get out tonight... so save your grousing.

Miss Mollie T was not pleased... nor did she see any humor whatsoever in what I was saying.  I had two pictures left for this post... but one, I just discovered when I looked closely... was of Mollie what she sarcastically calls "giving me the kittie finger."

Well... obviously, I couldn't use that photo.  I wanted to post this in the "Family Ties" group... but "kittie-fingers" just don't go over in there.

The only other picture... was the one just above... with Mollie T grumbling and growling... and getting up and ready to bolt into the far corners of the apartment.

So... with a huff and a growl... she was off.

Now what is a Mother... a CatMother... supposed to do.  All I did was take a few pictures.  But... just because the clickety-click my Canon Digital SLR camera made... she woke up... and was not pleased.

What's a CatMother to do ?

Mollie T gives you the kitty finger?  I bet you'd be hot at my place too... I like warm... 78 in winter and 77 in summer... warm... I love warm.

Tammy:  The ONLY place I like it warm in my apartment... is in the oven.  Other than that... I like to see snow clouds forming.  Maybe even a flake or two.  Sometimes I get a little lonely being the only "flake" here.

This past February... when we actually had SNOW in Fort Worth... I would go out on the balcony and sit... and watch the snow.  Even slept with the window open a crack.  Yum.  And, with all that in mind... I moved away from Cleveland years ago to get away from the cold.  It just makes no sense whatsoever.  But, then again... neither to I... much of the time.

Hi Karen Anne...Miss Mollie T is quite lovely.  I really like her coloring.  Considering that she sits around all day waiting for you to come home, the very least you can do is indulge her and turn up that htermostat.

Goldie discovered a long time ago that when the sun goes down she can perch up on the couch arm and bask in the heat of the lamp.  Another spot when she needs a little more heat is one one of our floor vents sucking up the hot air.

Hi Karen Anne... Mollie T is very much her mother's cat.  Knowing you, I doubt you'd be pleased if she woke you up that way!

Kate:  Actually... in the sunshine it almost looks like she has a touch of gold in her fur.  Normally, she looks totally black and white.  Also... I am not out much anymore.  Very seldom actually, so the temp stays where I want it... LOL.

Goldie sounds like a real sharp kitty.  Why don't you do a post on her ?  I'd love to see her.

Steve:  Noper... you've got that right.  I do NOT like being jarred into waking up.  Luckily, she cannot use the camera.  It's that "fingers thing" again.  Whew.  But, wow, can she whine when she wants to.  Mollie T is an extremely "vocal" cat.  She talks quite a bit... and lets you know what she wants.

How cute is Molly T!  Here I thought I was the only one who gave you the finger, now I find out Molly T does too..................LOL.

Sounds like that little girl brings you lots of joy!

Roger:  Big difference between the "regular" finger, and the "kittie finger."  Hers is warm and fuzzy.  Hairy, actually.  Mollie T is my Life Partner.  Yeah... we're sleepin' together.  Don't tell the Pope, though.  He'll just get all jealous.  Oh... I didn't even think.  He's prolly already dating someone... LOL.  Oooohhh... I'm gonna get some flack on that one, I bet.  <preparing to duck>

Oh my you slept with the window open when it was snowing?  I do like it colder at night.  In fact sometimes I just go the thermostat in the dark and go click click click when I get up in the middle of the night so I have no idea to where I'm clicking it.  Years ago I got one of those programable ones because I let it be on 81 in the summer during the no one is home hours and cool it back down before I get home from work.

Tammy:  Not fully open, but cracked to about an inch open.  If I had the money to waste on overdoing the A/C... I would have it set on 62 during the Summer.  It is funny... but during the Summer... 62 is fine.  In the Winter, I am sorry, but I find I have to "crank" it all the way up to 66.  Mebbe even 67, if it's cold out... LOL.

But for you "normal" people... using the programmable thermostats is a great idea.

When I was selling new homes for a builder... I used to call them Honeywell Chronotherm Digital Setback Programmable Thermostats.  Sounds impressive, doncha think ?  LOL.

LOL! Both of our cats hunt for sunny spots too. But it's usually in the winter. One of them will actually leave her usual spot, in search of a human body to curl up against. She made that mistake with me ONCE!  >.<  I DO NOT like to be crowded while sleeping. HAHA! I guess that's why the other one prefers to sleep "near" me. He likes his space too ;-)

Lisa:  My kitty, Mollie T... thinks it still IS Winter.  In fact, in my apartment... it is ALWAYS Winter.  I like it cold.  I like it so cold there at times appear to be storm clouds forming in the corner of the Living Room.  But Mollie T things it might end up snowing inside.  In fact, I think I caught her the other day trying to order a snow shovel on eBay.
