It Just Might Be Time for A Personal Make-Over... I Need a "New Look"

After watching the Oscars tonight... and seeing all the stars in their Oscar "finery..." and the women in their fabulous hair and make-up... I began to think that it just might be time for me to call my favorite hair salon... and make and appointment for a "make-over."

I was most impressed by the "new look" displayed by Sandra Bullock.  Ms Bullock won the Oscar for Best Actress tonight... for her exceptional performance in The Blind Side.  Letting her "serious actress" out for the first time... she was amazing.

Sandra was great... but I was thinking about something "different."

I wonder if perhaps adding a little more eye-shadow... and perhaps changing my hair color... might be the way to go ?  Perhaps tending a bit more towards the "red-head" look my Mom wore so well would be nice.

Now... being the conservative sort that I am... I most definitely want to do an "understated" look... rather than something that would be a little too "avant garde."

The lipstick... perhaps something a tad brighter.  And with the lip liner... maybe drawing in a bit more of a "pouty" look.

And... my darn eyebrows.  I mean, they are almost non-existent.  I am afraid that my advancing age has taken it's toll on my brows.  My hair... ya know, the hair on the top of my head... is doing fine.  But those darn eyebrows.

And while I'm at it... perhaps I could raise them a skootch too... so I could have a bit more room for some slightly more prominent eye shadow.

So... I put it all together... and here is what I have come up with.  Whaddya think, dear readers ?  Could this be the new me ?  All suggestions... positive ones only... of course, are welcomed !

Sandra looked great and the program was very good. In particular, I was sooooo pleased that no politcal remarks or positions were blurted out.

I think you will be a hit with your clients once they get used to the

new you.

Oh Karen Anne... you have so much more substance than that!

Michael:  In times past... perhaps there were much more pressing issues that needed to be adressed... but tonight was a time for the Oscars and "the Stars."  I thought the show went well... and I really liked the new way they presented the nominations for Best Actress and Best Actor.  Very classy !

Clark:  Thanks so much.  I thought the new look would be great for FSBO's.  Perhaps an over-the-edge marketing effort is just what these folks need to get their homes sold.

Steve:  I am guessing that you are gently trying to tell me that perhaps more blush is also warranted ?  It's ok... that would be a positive suggestion.  And... I am ALWAYS open to suggestions from you.  And... have a wonderful and successful trip to Austin.  I know you'll do well !

Being in Hawaii and watching the Academy Awards, I can now bet on best actress=)

Karen,

I think you should go with a short, sassy do and a lighter color.  Some kind of cut with bangs.

You'll look great!!

If you can believe it - the war between Cablevision and ABC cancelled the Oscars for much of our area this evening.  ABC cleverly cut off service before the big night. In fact they cut off service to our area at midnight last night....hmmmm.  To say that people are ticked off is a real understatement.   So thanks for the news!

Paul:  Hawaii, huh ?  Poor guy.  It's a rough job, but somebody's gotta do it.  Just try and tough it out my friend.  It'll be ok.  Sniffle, sniffle.

Perhaps I could take a half-day and go to Paris.  Paris, Texas... that is.  It's about fifty miles north east of Dallas.  Maybe they have an IHOP there ?

Ralph:  Such great suggestions !  But what about the blue eye-shadow.  I think it's such a great look.  So "in fashion."

But... I will take your suggestions under advisement.  A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do.

Ruthmarie:  I read about that ABC and Cablevision dogfight going on.  I also read tonight that they finally settled it... ten minutes AFTER the Oscar show started.  Perhaps someone you know taped it... or DVR'd it, and they could send it to you.  The show was very well done.

Funny... although I liked Avatar... Avatar's Director's ex-wife creamed him in the Oscar tally.  Hee hee hee.

Karen,

You're looking rather sassy there I must say.  Of course playing with a new look is always fun and invigorating.  There isn't much I can do with my hair.  So instead from time to time I'll go  buy a new shirt or a new tie.  And sometimes I'll buy myself a new suit.  These things always make me feel like a million.  And sporatically, I'll get a new cologne, although I've been enjoying my Prada for a couple of years now.

Posted by Frank Castaldini, Realtor - Homes for Sale in San Francisco (Coldwell Banker ) almost 8 years ago

Frank:  Yes... you do look a tad follically-challenged.  But... not to worry.  They say that Mother Nature only made so many perfect heads... and the rest of them she covered with hair.

Cologne-wise... I wear Allure perfume by Chanel.  It took quite a while to find something I liked... but that is it.  And... thanks for your kind words about my "look."  :)

Karen Anne - I think you are best just the way you are.  Of course, I'm one of those people that never changes (other than that whole silly aging thing).  Then again, if bright red hair, pouty lips and blue eyeshadow are what you want, GO FOR IT!

Posted by Amy Hahn, Realtor/Broker - Crystal Coast, NC (Pine Knoll Shores Realty) almost 8 years ago

Karen Anne, yes indeed, it is a look with a statement! I can see that you researched this well and found something that reflects that inner queen!

Karen - If that new look makes you happy. I'm all in support of you.

Good morning Karen Anne,

Oh what a new image! I like Andrea think you are making quite a statement with the "new you!!"

Karen Anne, the pouty look would never work for you, but everybody wants a make-over after watching those.

Actually I was sorta shocked so many wore their hair normal this year.

Karen Anne,

I think you look great just the way you are....although sometimes a new 'do' and darkening the eyebrows a bit helps a girl feel like a million.  I've been thinking of doing something about my disappearing eyebrows too.....

Sandra's speech was great...it brought tears to my eyes.

Karen Anne, If you are choosing the over the top look - color within the lines on the blue eyeshadow! LOL.  I loved Sandra Bullock's look.  And I'm so glad she won.

Posted by Susan Brown (Keller Williams NE, Kingwood Texas (Humble & Atascocita too)) almost 8 years ago

Karen, Perhaps a new style and highlights to bring the sunshine to your hair! You now can get your eyebrows tatooed on as well and they actually look great! My sister did it and is very fair so you couldn't see them and now she has the ability to make a brow expression now.

Karen - There are times in our lives when we all need to primp for the catwalk!  The night of the Oscars, is as good as any:-)  I have to agree with Missy's remark about your "pouty" look however!  That one would be a bit of a stretch. .. LOL

I love the graphic process used to create this image too!  Didn't you say it was Picassa!

We are told on a regular basis we need to find something to help us stand out to our prospective clients. Something to be remembered by. You may have just found that for yourself. You will be remembered. I think that is positive isn't it?

Oh, by the way I loved Blindside and I am thrilled she won the Oscar for that role.

Karen Ann- all that hair would give me a headache at the end of the day. But, I'm all for change.  I also agree with Missy (#19 ) about the pouty lips.  You have me LOL  :)

Karen, I don't believe you'd have the demeanor to emulate the Red Queen. You'll need to become antagonistic, and I don't believe you'd enjoy that. Clever post btw.

Karen, you can't improve on perfection and I think you are perfect as you are.  xxoo  I did think Sandra looked more lovely than I've ever seen her.  I didn't hang in till the end but I hear her acceptance speech was lovely.

See with women you can pencil in eye brows. The problem with guys is our hair gets heavier as we get old. Gravity takes it away from the top of our heads and moves it to our eye brows, ears and nose and in extreme heavy hair situations our backs. (Can't seem to stop it) So, be happy with your present look, I think you look fine.

I love Sandra Bullock and her look.  She is always a lady and certainly classy.  I heard some sad news this morning about her marital life.  Hope it was gossip!

Posted by Ashlee Springer, Expert Realtor Working with First Time Homebuyer (Keller Williams, Alabaster, AL) almost 8 years ago

Ashlee:  I heard the same news about her tattood husband... and that tattood "girlfriend" of his.  If it is true... and I would not be surprised if it is... then Sandra should throw that creep out... immediately.  Why oh Why do some women set themselves up to be abused like this ?  Very sad indeed.

Karen - Very funny post. You know they can tatoo eyebrows in nowadays? Is the pain worth it? I think not.

Thanks for commenting on my blog.
