Fort Worth is the Western Focal Point for Gustav Hospital Patient Evacuees...

In an attempt to make sure that the survivors and evacuees of hurricane Gustav who have been hospitalized have a place to go... Fort Worth... with it's excellent public and private hospital system... has been made the Western Focal Point for incoming hospital patients being air-lifted from New Orleans.

Right now it appears that New Orleans may once again bear much of the brunt of the hurricane winds... and the crushing tidal surge that accompanies hurricanes of such magnitude.

Right now the plans are for hospital-bound patients to be airlifted by the National Guard (I'm glad there are still some here).  They will be flown here using the giant C-130 cargo planes into DFW International Airport... and then taken by ambulance to the many area hospitals awaiting their arrival.

Fort Worth is most fortunate to have such a great hospital system... and our great city willingly and gladly awaits the arrival of those who otherwise would be trapped by Gustav's onslaught.

Out in front of the store there were either two employees, or two fire marshalls... who would not allow anyone to enter the store... until someone else left the store.  The lines came out the front door, and down the sidewalk to the right... passing by every single store front in the block... and then wrapped itself around the end store... and disappeared into the back.

The Apple Store is located on South University Drive... just south of I-30... which passes horizontally through the middle of Fort Worth.  Also... just a little jog further south on South University... is TCU... that fabulous university that Fort Worthians have enjoyed for many, many years.

Great New Model in Northwest ISD... 2087 Sq Ft for $135,990...

One of the things I enjoy doing... is snooping... or maybe "scouting" is a better word... scouting around all the new home neighborhoods that are pretty well sprinkled all around the Fort Worth area.

Today I came upon a really great new model.   It is a pretty exciting "find"... in my opinion.  I've got a preliminary picture that I want to share.  The model isn't quite finished yet... that's why you see a lovely dirt lawn in front of this model... but I was so excited... I wanted to get online as soon as I could.

Also... I have included below a picture of this same home... which is currently a "finished model" in a different DFW neighborhood... just to see what it will look like in about three weeks.

Here is a "walking-thru" description of this model home.  This looks like it is really going to be a great one story home.  I really like the way it is set up inside.  It's a great floor plan arrangement.

As you enter, there is a cool room at the left of the entryway... great for a den or office... and great for someone who works a lot from home.

Just a little further in ... there's a great area that will be set up in the model as a dining room.  If it were my home... I think I would probably use it as a second living area... rather than a formal dining.

The kitchen set-up is quite spacious.  Lots of cabinets and counter space, an island for food prep... and a nice breakfast area that should pretty well take care of all of your dining needs... should you want to use the formal dining area as a second living area.

Off the kitchen area is a very nice family room with a great stone-accented wood burning fireplace.  The home has a split-master arrangement with the master at the back, and also two additional bedrooms.

If you wanted... and have a need for a fourth bedroom... the front den/office room could easily be a fourth bedroom.  It has been more of a tendency recently, I have seen, that many buyers would use the fourth bedroom as a den/office anyway... so this home works out great for that.  Pricing-wise... since the model is not yet open... I think this home is going to end up in the mid-130's price range... perhaps $135,990 or so.

But... here is the really cool part.  The first two years of the mortgage plan have bee "bought down" by the builder.  So... the first year is 3.875 %.  The second year is 4.875 %.  And... as I mentioned above... years three thru thirty is fixed at 5.875 %.

Not Just Another Post about High Gas Prices and Yucky Gas Mileage... :)

I just wanted to brag just a little bit about my Honda CRV and the incredible gas mileage I am getting with it.

The Honda CRV is a "crossover" SUV that is built on the same chassis (they call it a 'platform') as the Honda Civic is.  So... that gives you a bit of an idea about how nice and roomy it is inside.  Enough headroom for my poofy Texas hair :)

Gas prices are coming down.  I passed several gas stations today and noticed that regular is selling for $3.34 a gallon.  That is like seventy cents lower than it was about a month ago.  Cool !

Anyhow... on with my brag.  I drive quite a bit... specializing in New Home Sales as I do.  So... I can easily drive between 125 and 175 miles a day... and really not go anywhere... LOL.  Just all around Tarrant County... which is the county that Fort Worth, Texas is in.

Above you will see a picture I took of my dashboard odometer today that shows my gas mileage.  Notice right in the middle... towards the top.  There it is... 30.0 miles per gallon.  Incredible.  By the way... my CRV is a 2007... and I took delivery of it on July 14, 2007.  Right now I have about 27,000 miles on it.  All that... and I never go anywhere... LOL.

Just for fun, I looked up on the Honda website to see what kind of mileage is being quoted on the current CRV's.  It quotes 22 in the city and 27 on the open road.  Somehow... with my own personal brand of non-aggressive driving... I have ended up getting 30.0 MPG.  I just felt so good about it, I wanted to share it... just in case anyone on Active Rain is looking for a crossover SUV with decent gas mileage.
